The ifrothgolf review

A regular-fit golf polo from Lyle and Scott built on a lightweight recycled-polyester blend. You get the familiar three-button placket, ribbed collar and cuffs, contrast detail stitching, and the embroidered Golden Eagle on the chest. It is pitched as a do-everything shirt that wicks moisture and looks tidy enough to keep on for lunch in the clubhouse.

What's great

The fabric is genuinely light and moves sweat off your skin well in warm rounds, and the cut is forgiving without being baggy. Build quality feels a notch above the price, the collar holds its shape after washing, and the understated branding means it does not scream golf when you wear it casually. Recycled-content fabric is a nice bonus if that matters to you.

Worth knowing

The sizing is European and runs small, so most people should size up at least one to avoid a clingy fit across the chest and shoulders. It is also a polyester shirt at heart, so on a really hot, humid day it can feel a touch synthetic against the skin versus a premium pique cotton blend, and the plain colourways are handsome but not exciting. Stock and exact pricing bounce around between retailers and seasons.

The verdict

A solid, honest mid-price polo that earns its spot for the brand cachet and genuinely useful lightweight fabric. Buy it for the everyday on-and-off-course versatility, just order a size up and do not expect performance-fabric wizardry beyond competent moisture-wicking.
